Where are we? Path Light Academy is Christian School located in Wolcott, NY (14590). Our growing ministry has two campuses. One is located at 11867 West Main Street and the other is located at 6002 Williams Street. Classes will be held at our Williams Street campus.
What do we believe? We are a Bible believing Christian ministry. Please see our BELIEFS page for more details.
What grades do we have? Path Light Academy teaches grades K-12. In some instances, multiple grade levels are taught together as a school community.
Who are we? We are an official NYS-based K-8 non-public Christian school.
Do we have buses? If you are interested in having your child(ren) bused to and from school, your home or pick-up location must be within 15 miles of our school. We are an official NYS-based K-8 non-public school therefore local schools provide busing to and from our school daily. Currently, students residing in the following school districts who meet the 15-mile requirement can obtain free busing: North Rose-Wolcott, Red Creek, Clyde-Savannah, Sodus, Lyons, Hannibal, Cato-Meridian. To obtain busing or to inquire about transportation please contact your local public school’s bus garage. They will send you a form to fill out.
Are we an “actual” school? Our high school (grades 9-12) is not currently registered with NYS. That means that your child (upon graduation) will receive a local diploma and a letter of completion from North Rose-Wolcott Central Schools. This combination of paperwork is what is needed for your child(ren) to attend college after graduating from Path Light Academy. It takes three years for a non-public high school to be registered with NYSED (the NYS Education Department). Our anticipated date of registration with NYS will occur during the 2021-2022 school year.
What about testing? Your child will be given the opportunity to participate in SAT testing, ACT testing, and Regent’s testing even without our school having an official registration with NYSED. Please talk to our enrollment representative for more information if you are interested in testing opportunities. We will also hope to offer NYS ELA, math, and science testing for grades 3-8 beginning during the 2019-2020 school year.
What curriculum do we use? Please see our CURRICULUM page for details.
How much does it cost? Please see our TUITION page for details.
Are our teachers qualified? Please see our STAFF page for details.
How many students do we have? As a new school we can’t accurately answer that question until all of our fall 2018 enrollment paperwork has been submitted. At this time we have under 50 students in grades K-12 who have shown an interest in attending Path Light Academy in the fall of 2018.
Can homeschoolers take classes at Path Light Academy but not be enrolled full-time? Yes, homeschooled students are welcomed to attend Path Light Academy for classes! There is no need to commit to a whole day for homeschooled families. For information on enrolling in courses “a la carte” please see our HOME SCHOOLS page.
Do we need volunteers? Yes! We need volunteers to teach classes, monitor lunches, work in administrative roles, and care for our grounds. If you’d like to volunteer full time, part time, or here-and-there at Path Light Academy, please visit our STAFF page for details and to submit an interest form.
Do volunteers get tuition discounts for their children or grand-children? The answer to that is YES! We appreciate our volunteers and the best way we can show that is to discount tuition significantly for those who come and serve with us.
Do you follow the public school’s calendar?
Path Light Academy closely mirrors the school calendar for North Rose-Wolcott Central Schools. The only exception is a school-wide (optional) camping trip that occurs during the fall (September or October) each year. This week-long camping trip is for all individuals families involved with Path Light Ministries and is currently hosted by Piney Woods Campground on Catchpole Road in North Rose. There are no scheduled classes during this week. Please visit our CALENDAR page for a copy of our 2018-2019 school calendar.
The law does not mandate specific time periods for nonpublic schools but they should provide instruction for approximately the same time required of public schools:
- Grades 1-6 – 5 hours daily
- Grades 9-12 – 5 1/2 hours daily
The nonpublic school’s calendar should approximate that of the public school, but it need not be in session for the 180 days required for a public school district to receive its full State aid.
